EUROPEAN INNOVATIVE GAMES AWARD
Videogames enthuse an audience of millions, the launch of a new title or a new hardware is just as big as the production of a Hollywood-blockbuster. Like the music or film industry, the games industry celebrates its best in the context of various competitions or audience awards. What at all – in the best sense of the word – ordinariness of computer and video games easily gets out of focus is the enormous potential for innovation that characterizes the game industry from time immemorial. Therefore the European Innovative Games Award – E.I.G.A. has been awarded in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014. The European Innovative Games Awards 2014 (endowed with 10,000 Euro) honored the often spectacular innovations achieved in the development of games in the category: Innovative Game Technology. The E.I.G.A. 2014 award went to “Bounden”.
The competition was realized in cooperation with the European Commission. Organizer of the European Innovative Games Award was a support organisation including Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH, the local initiative gamearea-FRM e.V. and the Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development, State of Hessen as a part of the program Hessen-IT.
